Michele watched as River measured out a cup of chocolate chips. The cup was already overflowing, but that didn’t stop the woman from adding even more once the cup was empty.

“Uh, I think that’s enough, River.”

Her best friend smiled. “Can you ever have enough chocolate chips?”

“The boys will be asking for some cookie with their chocolate, so I think so.”

River chuckled as she lifted the wooden spoon and went back to mixing. “Nothing wrong with that.”

The sweet scent of mini apple pies filtered throughout the kitchen. They were in the oven and almost done. She hadn’t been planning on baking cookies as well, but if these guys had shown her anything today, it was that they could eat. They’d demolished half a dozen pizzas and a huge bowl of pasta already.

When her gaze rose to the living room to find Declan looking right at her, a small smile curved her lips before she suddenly dropped her head. God, why did the man have to be so dang cute? These last few days, he’d been everything a woman could want. Attentive. Helpful. Kind.

Then there was everything he made her feel at night…

Her cheeks heated at the thought.

“Are you thinking about him right now?”

Her gaze flew to River. Her friend had the biggest grin on her face.

“Maybe.”

“So, yes.” She chuckled as she grabbed a chocolate chip from the dough. “That reminds me, I’ve already planned our first double date.”

“Do I even want to know?”

A mischievous smile stretched River’s lips. “Axe throwing.”

What on earth? “You want us to go axe throwing? You, me, Declan, and Jackson?”

“Yeah. What’s wrong with that?”

“Ah, how about the fact they’re former Deltas and will whip our asses? Hell, axe throwing was probably part of their training. Not to mention I wouldn’t be able to lift the thing with my bum hand.”

River rolled her eyes. “We’ll obviously wait until your hand is healed. And, yeah, that’s the point. Just imagine Declan standing behind you, his hot body pressed against your back as he guides you in throwing the thing.”

Okay, that didn’t sound terrible…

River got this dreamy look on her face, and Michele laughed, tugging the bowl from her friend. “I think you’ve had too much sugar.”

“Oh, I’ve definitely had too much sugar.” She leaned over the counter, her voice lowering. “You know what sugar goes well with? Sex. The other night, Jackson and I—”

“River, I’m going to stop you there. I cannot listen to a sex story while six guys are sitting in the living room within listening distance.”

Her smile widened. “Well, that’s your loss. It’s a good one.”

“You can tell me later.”

She grabbed a baking pan, and River shifted closer, spooning the cookie mixture into balls. “Is the sex with Declan amazing? Like, I know it has to be good, because how could it not be, but is it out of this world?”

Michele’s cheeks reddened. She’d told River the morning after she’d slept with Declan, because she’d needed to tell someone. And her best friend had been just as excited as she’d known she would be.
